Adult spam hits all time low

Symantec's anti spam monitoring tells us that, in February, adult spam hit an all time low (as a proportion of all spam) with just 3% of spam identified as being of an adult nature.

Symantec defines adult spam as:
"Products or services intended for persons above the age of 18 ... often offensive or inappropriate. Examples: porn, personal ads, relationship advice."
Top types of spam:
  1. 48% - General products & services
  2. 21% - Financial services (including pump and dump stock tips)
  3. 15% - Internet services
  4. 8% - Fraudulent e-mails such as phishing
Symantec also noted the trend of spammers using image text within their spam (to get around anti spam detection engines) growing - something that this writer has seen also.
