A new start up called Seriosity has launched a currency for e-mail online, allowing people to prioritise the e-mails they receive, as well as for a corporate to add a value to the e-mails they send - hence the more important the mail, the more 'serios' you assign to it - and like any other currency the number of units is limited.
"According to a study by Basex, the total cost to the US economy of attention-management problems caused by email and other online tools is $588bn a year. Seriosity says it has a corporate client — which it would not name — for whom the problem costs about $1bn a year."It's certainly a novel approach, and one wonders if inflation might be an issue with this currency!
