Google and Apple to work closer together

News reaches us from Google's CEO Eric Schmidt that the Mountain View based company and Steve Jobs' Apple are to work closer together to provide products and services, in a direct challenge to the historical dominance of Microsoft.

Schmidt, who is also on the board of Apple, said:

"I will tell you that Google and Apple are doing more and more things together through the normal course of communications ... We have similar goals and similar competitors."
