UK ISPs are having some headaches in adopting full support for Windows Vista.Virgin Media are suffering from their CDs not being fully Vista ready yet, while BT have been hit with problems affecting the Norton security software they offer. Tiscali are advising their users to fully backup their PC before a Vista upgrade.
A Virgin Media spokesman responded to problems a customer who contacted the BBC experienced:
"We can get people online without the installation disc. It's not that it does not work, it's just the disc. It's such a big product that to train staff up on it fully and make sure all your services are tested and compliant takes time."BT does seem to be unsure on whether they support it or not though.
"I think we are now supporting it though we did have some issues with it."Think Broadband states that this is a more generic issue affecting the industry as a whole. Editor Andrew Ferguson said:
"I suspect Vista is going to break a lot of things as it makes some major changes to how things are done in Windows. Many places aren't up to speed with Vista yet."
