Microsoft and OpenID

Microsoft's recent adoption of OpenID has generated much comment, including one piece at The Register.

Writer Mary Branscombe points out just how big a deal this is for Microsoft, a company that lives (historically anyway) on tying both companies and consumers into proprietary solutions that can only be supplied by themselves.

Microsoft Identity architect Kim Cameron says:
"We need a scalable identity architecture - scalable in terms of how easy it is to deploy."
