Microsoft buys TellMe

Microsoft have purchased TellMe, in a move that analysts believe may result in a complete shakeup to the way that searches work on the web. Let's face it, they need to do something to take on the ever present Google.

The deal is rumoured to be at a cost of USD$800m (£413m) for the voice recognition software firm, which provides directory enquiries and call centre software - generating thoughts about mobile phone web searching, and speech based use of search engines on the PCs, rather than needing to type in the search criteria.

TellMe's Mike McCue said:
"We think you should just be able to say, 'Show me the Daily Show,' (and be) watching what you want on TV just by speaking it."
