Microsoft launches new Xbox 360

Microsoft is to launch a new version of the Xbox 360, which will include a bigger hard drive, be nice and shiny in a new black finish and with improved HD support, reports The New York Times.

The Xbox 360 Elite, as it will be called is expected to be available from next month - at a list price of USD$80 more than the Xbox 360 pro and a further USD$100 more than the basic version.

Fair to say then that it's aimed at the hardcore gamer and technology guru.

Microsoft's John Rodman couldn't resist a dig at the brilliant Nintendo Wii:
"We don't feel like the Wii customer and the Xbox customer are the same thing. We think that as soon as the Wii customer turns 14 they want something else."
Interesting sales tactic - calling me a 14 year old is really going to excite me about your product Mr Rodman. Not.
