Many media sources (including The Telegraph) tell us that Pipex, the ISP advertised by the Hoff, is up for sale.The UK's sixth biggest ISP, it has around 570,000 broadband customers and a huge web hosting business that make it attractive to potential buyers, with Sky rumoured to be sniffing around the sale - although if Virgin Media want to expand big time into ADSL, it might make sense as a potential target for them.
This could be the latest in consolidation in the UK ISP industry, as a handful of big players emerge as the dominant forces in the market.
