Private file sharing to remain legal in EU

It's looking like file sharing within Europe is likely to remain legal, as long as it's done for personal purposes and not for financial gain.

A press release from the European Union parliament said:
"Members of the Legal Affairs' committee [...] decided that criminal sanctions should only apply to those infringements deliberately carried out to obtain a commercial advantage."
No doubt this will really wind up the likes of the MPAA and the RIAA, and file sharers will be celebrating with even more torrent downloads than before.
