Turkey blocks YouTube

A Turkish court order has resulted in the world's most popular video sharing site, YouTube, being blocked.

The order stated that a virtual war between Turks and Greeks was going on on the site, and comes after a clip portraying legendary Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and other Turks as homosexuals.

The clips created a flood of complaints to the Google owned YouTube, and they removed the links - but the court order goes further, blocking the site altogether with the following message (in Turkish as well as English) being displayed for visitors:
"Access to www.youtube.com site has been suspended in accordance with decision no: 2007/384 dated 06.03.2007 of Istanbul First Criminal Peace Court".
Local ISP Turk Telecom have stated that they will maintain the block for as long as the order stands.
