Yahoo! to! sack! people!

Yahoo! is set to axe up to 20% of its global workforce - between 1,500 and 2,500 of the 12,000 in total - according to reports on their response to the continuous trouncing of the search company by Google.

The cuts, which have been long called for by investors, are expected to be proprtionately higher in Europe where Google dominates even more than they do in the US market.

In a statement, the company said:
"Yahoo! plans to invest in some areas, reduce emphasis in others, and eliminate some areas of the business that don't support the Company’s priorities."
Which doesn't really say a lot.
