Gmail gets long awaited import functionality

It has always puzzled me how you can use Gmail to aggregate your POP accounts from other ISPs and present them in a single inbox but yet you can't do the same with other webmail services like Hotmail.

Puzzle no more, with the great news that Google are adding this feature now to their wonderful web based e-mail service. It's already available to new Gmail accounts and it will be rolled out to the existing base on a rolling basis according to their blog post.

Both e-mail and contacts can be imported from the other services using the options in the same section as for POP aggregation:
Gmail really has become the leading webmail platform in terms of functionality and continues to improve even further at a rapid pace - which is a great thing for Gmail users and also for Google's advertisers.
