In what is a surprise move, the Chinese government have indefinitely postponed the requirement that every new PC sold in the country comes with filtering software (called Green Dam Youth Escort) to block certain websites. The software was due to be installed on all new PCs in the country from yesterday. The plan to have the forced install of the software was widely unpopular, but it's thought that the reason behind putting the plans on hold was purely technical - with serious issues such as the fact that it can't be installed on 64-bit operating systems probably scuppering the plans.
