Comcast launches Error Page Redirect trial

Comcast are the latest of the large ISPs to launch what is quick becoming standard broadband ISP functionality - the redirecting of web errors to search results that will help the end user find what they are looking for.

Their Error Page redirect trial is launching in a few states and branded 'Domain Helper' with the search results for 404 errors being powered by Yahoo! Comcast will be taking a cut of the sponsored search results from the service.

Customers are fully able to opt out if they don't want the search results, and the service along with a user friendly (for non technical customers) explanation of how DNS works is covered here.

Update @1722: They have also documented how it works and submitted it to the IETF.
