MI6 chief's details posted to Facebook

Plenty of coverage across the mass media today about the wife of the incoming head of MI6 posting personal details about him on Facebook, and not keeping the profile private - so it was available to any of the c200m users who are members of the 'London' network on the social networking site.

Sir John Sawers' wife, Lady Shelley, posted details about where her family live and friends of the couple including people in the public eye. Given how much has been spent on protecting their privacy, naturally many opposition politicians are trying to make a big deal out of it.

The information has been removed after The Mail on Sunday contacted the Foreign Office.
