Apache site hacked

In an embarrassing incident for the open source web server that powers around half of the world's websites, the site of Apache itself was hacked last week - although it is unclear for what means.

The compromise can be seen clearly from the Netcraft performance graphs:
Hackers managed to get access to an account used for backups of the site and took it down accordingly.
