This blog has reported before about the team of 10 that are supporting BT's customers on Twitter based out of Enniskillen in Northern Ireland, and it's come to light that BT are using the country to base all their digital support functions out of that they have brought back from India. The company has trained over 600 customer service staff in Enniskillen and Londonderry/Derry/City of Derry (always make sure you make that caveat!) in Twitter and e-mail support as they try to move customers away from phone based help, saving plenty of money and giving customers more convenient support in the process.
£2m of investment from Invest NI has contributed to BT's decision, and Chris Clark of BT said:
"We are delighted with the positive outcome for Northern Ireland following the global review, and are confident that this investment in digital care will help future proof our operations here."
