Amazon denies store plans

Web retailing giant Amazon has scotched rumours that they are set to launch a UK retail presence to cash in on the popularity of 'click and collect' services like those operated by John Lewis and Argos.

The Sunday Telegraph had reported a source close to the company as saying:
"When Amazon was just selling books and CDs that fitted easily through the letterbox, it was fine to be a web-only business. But now it has branched out in to everything from children's bikes to electricals, it believes it could boost sales by having stores that offer a collection point for shoppers."
In response the company said:
"We have no plans to open physical retail stores anywhere in the world."
Interestingly, Tesco are set to open some 'dark stores' that will be laid out exactly like their regular supermarkets - but will never be visited by the public ... instead they will fulfil online orders.
