One of the more serious knock on effects of a malware infection seems to have been not raising the alarm about other technical problems that eventually caused a Spanair plane to fall out of the sky two years ago, killing 154 people in the process. The Calatan airline's mainframe system was apparently infected by a trojan and hence did not raise the alarm as intended when three other technical problems happened and the company has been ordered to handover relevant data by an investigating judge working on a case where two of the company's technicians are defendants.
