News Corporation head honcho Rupert Murdoch launched a fierce attack about Google's inability to block pirated content from their search results - and it's come to light that it was as the result of a demonstration of Google TV by the company at last week's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. At the show Google revealed that activation rates of Google TV had doubled in a demo where they showed what content could be accessed from their platform, including the web.
When Murdoch queried what results would be shown in a search Google responded the same as on the web, which would include pirated content if that had not already been removed from search results - which is not standard practice.
It seems that was all it took to set the octogenarian off, but both News Corp and Google have not commented on the report. Google have though dismissed his comments about them facilitating piracy as "nonsense".
