Virgin clears up e-mail gaffe

Virgin Media have clarified a confusing e-mail sent erroneously to some of the cable company's customers on Friday night which suggested that they would be moving to 120Mb speeds as part of the company's speed increase programme, whilst the move only applies to their 100Mb and 50Mb customers (although all other cable customers are getting their speed at least doubled too).

In a statement the company said:
"We're sorry for any misunderstanding and will be writing to customers again soon to clarify how the upgrade will affect them.

In the meantime, as part of our double speed programme we are delighted to confirm that 50Mb customers will actually be upgraded to 120Mb, meaning even more Virgin Media customers will be able to take advantage of the fastest broadband speeds in the UK."
Virgin also confirmed that some customers will see their speeds doubling from 50Mb to 100Mb before they are further increased to 120Mb. More about the speed increases can be found on Virgin's website here.
