Sky launches 9 month half price offer

Sky have released an interesting special offer where new signups get 9 months of their broadband for half price - but only if they don't take up Sky's satellite TV service also.

The offer succeeds one from earlier this year where they were pushing 6 months free broadband for new customers also taking their TV service and means that Sky can claim a headline price point for their broadband service of £5 per month (although customers still have to take line rental at £12.25 per month and a calls package).Sky have been successful by pushing their 'standalone' broadband service, adding 60k customers to the base in the last quarter of last year and taking the overall size of their broadband only customers to 218k and comes as they move their business strategy away from pay TV to drive their subscriber growth in a market where they are also set to launch their own online VoD service as pay TV adoption hits saturation.

The offer is only pushed online (here) at the moment, but that may be set to change with the launch of Sky's Formula One TV channel this weekend.
